All 5 lessons in 3-D Mensuration I

  1. 1. Properties and Nets of Solid Shapes

Identify six solid shapes, state their faces, edges and vertices, sketch their nets, and use l^2 = r^2 + h^2 for the cone.

  2. 2. Total Surface Area of a Cylinder

Derive and apply the curved and total surface area formulas of a cylinder, for closed and open cylinders, and find unknown dimensions.

  3. 3. Surface Area of a Cone — The Sector Derivation

Derive CSA = pi r l from the net sector, compute CSA and TSA of a cone, and convert between a cone and its sector.

  4. 4. Volumes of Prisms, Cylinders, Cones, and Pyramids

Use V = Ah for prisms and cylinders, the one-third rule for cones and pyramids, Pythagoras for pyramid height, and convert cm3 to litres.

  5. 5. Frustums, the Angle Sum Proof, and the Exterior Angle Theorem

Find frustum volumes by subtraction using similar triangles, and prove the angle sum and exterior angle theorems of a triangle.
